A 5kW solar system in Bharuch costs about ₹2,75,000 fully installed in 2026. A home pays about ₹1,97,000 after the ₹78,000 PM Surya Ghar subsidy. It makes around 700 units a month, covers a bill of about ₹5,500, and in our calculator pays back in about 2.8 years for a home and 3.9 years for a shop. This is the size we fit on bungalows with two or three ACs and on shops with a steady daytime load.

What a 5kW system includes

ItemWhat you get
PanelsTen 550 W ALMM-listed DCR panels, 5.5 kWp in total
Inverter5 kW on-grid inverter, or a hybrid with batteries if you want backup
StructureGalvanised steel, raised where the terrace is in use, 34-year written warranty
Wiring and safetyDC and AC cables, protection box and earthing
PaperworkPM Surya Ghar application for homes, DGVCL approval and net meter, filed by us
Service5 years of free maintenance

The array is 5.5 kWp on a 5 kW inverter. The extra 10% of panels keeps the inverter near full output on hot, hazy days, when panels give less than their label.

Price, subsidy and what you pay

You pay₹1,97,000₹2,75,000

Payback in our calculatorabout 2.8 yearsabout 3.9 years
Saving over 25 yearsabout ₹29.9 lakhabout ₹29.9 lakh

The subsidy is capped at ₹78,000 and stops growing at 3 kW, so on a 5 kW system it covers about 28% of the price. That is not a reason to buy a smaller system than your bill needs. A 5.5 kWp system on a ₹5,500 bill still saves far more over its life than a 3.3 kWp system would.

Shops get no central subsidy, but a business can usually claim accelerated depreciation on solar. Ask your CA for the current rate before you compare payback. The post on solar for shops in Bharuch covers the rest.

5kW or 3kW

The deciding number is your bill, not your roof. Add your last twelve DGVCL bills and divide by twelve.

Average monthly billSize that fits
₹2,000 to ₹3,3003.3 kWp, see the 3kW price page
₹3,500 to ₹4,5003.85 to 4.4 kWp
₹5,000 to ₹6,0005.5 to 6.05 kWp, this page
₹10,000 and above11 kWp, see the 10kW price page

A system far bigger than your use sends its extra units to the grid, where DGVCL credits surplus at about ₹2.25 instead of the ₹8 a unit is worth to you. Sizing to the bill gets full value from nearly every unit.

On-grid or hybrid

A standard on-grid inverter switches off when the grid fails, by design, so it gives no backup during a power cut. If cuts on your feeder are long, a hybrid inverter with batteries keeps the house running, at extra cost for the batteries. On a net metered home the battery buys backup, not extra savings. The post on on-grid vs hybrid vs off-grid solar compares the three.

Roof and connection

Plan for about 550 to 600 square feet of roof with no shade from 9 am to 4 pm. Your sanctioned load with DGVCL should be at least 5 kW. Many homes that have added ACs over the years are still on a lower sanctioned load, and the increase goes in with the solar application. We file both together.

Loan and EMI

The concessional PM Surya Ghar loan terms cover systems up to 3 kW. A 5 kW system usually goes on a regular solar or home improvement loan, at the bank’s normal rate.

Loan amount5 years at 7%5 years at 10%7 years at 7%
₹1,97,000, net after subsidyabout ₹3,901about ₹4,186about ₹2,973

At 7% over 7 years the EMI is well under the ₹5,534 a month the system saves. The post on solar loans in Gujarat lists the documents banks ask for.

Questions people ask

What is the price of a 5kW solar system in Bharuch?

About ₹2,75,000 fully installed for a 5.5 kWp array of ten 550 W panels on a 5 kW inverter. A home gets the maximum ₹78,000 PM Surya Ghar subsidy, so it pays about ₹1,97,000. A shop or office pays the full ₹2,75,000. We confirm the final price after a free site visit.

How many units does a 5kW solar system make per month?

About 700 units a month averaged over the year in Bharuch, based on 4.2 units per kWp per day. That is roughly 8,400 units a year, more in March to May and less in July and August.

Is the subsidy higher for 5kW than for 3kW?

No. The central PM Surya Ghar subsidy stops growing at 3 kW and is capped at ₹78,000. A 5 kW home system gets the same ₹78,000 as a 3 kW one, and every kW above three is paid in full. It still pays back quickly if your bill needs that size.

What bill does a 5kW solar system cover?

A monthly bill of about ₹5,500 at ₹8 a unit. That is typical for a home running two or three ACs through the summer, or a shop with steady daytime load. If your bill is closer to ₹3,000, a 3 kW system is the better buy.

What is the EMI on a 5kW solar system?

On ₹1,97,000 after subsidy, the EMI is about ₹3,901 a month over 5 years at 7%, or about ₹4,186 at 10%. Over 7 years at 7% it is about ₹2,973. The concessional PM Surya Ghar loan terms cover systems up to 3 kW, so a 5 kW system is usually on a regular solar or home improvement loan.
