A 3kW solar system in Bharuch costs about ₹1,65,000 fully installed in 2026. After the ₹78,000 PM Surya Ghar subsidy, a home pays about ₹87,000. It makes around 420 units a month, covers a bill of about ₹3,000, and in our calculator pays for itself in about 2.3 years. Three kilowatts is the most common size we install, because it is where the subsidy reaches its maximum.

What a 3kW system includes

“3kW” means different things at different shops. This is what we mean by it.

ItemWhat you get
PanelsSix 550 W ALMM-listed DCR panels, 3.3 kWp in total
Inverter3 kW on-grid inverter
StructureGalvanised steel, raised where the terrace is in use, 34-year written warranty
Wiring and safetyDC and AC cables, protection box and earthing
PaperworkPM Surya Ghar application, DGVCL approval and net meter, filed by us
Service5 years of free maintenance

We put 3.3 kWp of panels on a 3 kW inverter on purpose. Panels rarely hit their full rating in Bharuch heat and dust, so the slightly larger array keeps the inverter near full output for more hours of the day. When you compare quotes, divide the all-in price by the kWp of panels, not by the inverter size.

The subsidy pays ₹30,000 for each of the first two kilowatts and ₹18,000 for the third. On 3.3 kWp it covers about 47% of the price. It is paid into your bank account after DGVCL inspects and commissions the system, not taken off the invoice. With us you pay nothing in advance.

The calculator values each unit at ₹8 and adds a 5% yearly rise in tariff. Homes on lower DGVCL slabs save less per unit, so 3 to 5 years is a fair payback range for most homes. The post on solar payback in Gujarat shows the working.

Who a 3kW system suits

A 3kW system fits a family with a monthly bill of around ₹3,000, which usually means one AC used in summer, a fridge, fans, lights and a washing machine. It is the size most Bharuch homes need.

Go smaller if your bill is under ₹2,000. A 2.2 kWp system costs about ₹46,400 after subsidy and the subsidy covers a bigger share of it. Go bigger if you run two or more ACs through the summer. The 5kW solar system price page covers that size. If you are unsure, the post on what size solar system your home needs works it out from your bill.

Units by season

A 3.3 kWp system averages about 420 units a month in Bharuch. It makes noticeably more in the clear months from March to May and less in the cloudy weeks of July and August. Under DGVCL net metering, units you do not use during the day go to the grid and cancel units you draw at night, so a sunny month largely pays for its own evenings. Surplus left over at the end of the billing period is credited at a much lower rate, which is why we size to your bill and not to your roof. The DGVCL net metering guide has a worked month.

Roof and connection

You need about 300 to 350 square feet of roof that stays out of shade from 9 am to 4 pm. Water tanks and staircase rooms are the usual obstacles, and we plan the rows around them at the site visit. Many families want the terrace free for drying clothes or functions, so we raise the structure with room to walk underneath.

Your sanctioned load with DGVCL should be at least 3 kW. If it is lower, the load increase goes in with the solar application, and we file it at the same time.

Loan and EMI

Systems up to 3 kW can get collateral-free loans at concessional rates under PM Surya Ghar through public sector banks. Around 7% has been typical, but check the current rate.

Loan amount5 years at 7%7 years at 7%

Both EMIs are lower than the ₹3,105 a month the system saves, so on these numbers the system pays its own EMI from the first month. The post on solar loans in Gujarat covers documents and how banks handle the subsidy.

Questions people ask

What is the price of a 3kW solar system in Bharuch?

About ₹1,65,000 fully installed for a 3.3 kWp array of six 550 W panels on a 3 kW inverter. After the ₹78,000 PM Surya Ghar subsidy, a home pays about ₹87,000. Brand, structure height and cable length move the final figure a little, so we confirm it after a free site visit.

How many units does a 3kW solar system make in Bharuch?

About 420 units a month averaged over the year, based on 4.2 units per kWp per day for Bharuch. Expect more in March to May and less in the cloudy weeks of July and August. Over a year that is roughly 5,000 units.

What electricity bill does a 3kW system cover?

A monthly bill of about ₹3,000 to ₹3,300 at ₹8 a unit. If your bill is higher because of two or more ACs, look at a 4 or 5 kW system instead. If your bill is under ₹2,000, a 2 kW system will pay back faster.

How much roof space does a 3kW solar system need?

About 300 to 350 square feet of roof with no shade between 9 am and 4 pm. Six 550 W panels take less than that on their own, but the rest is walking space, row spacing and room around water tanks. A raised structure lets you keep using the terrace underneath.

What is the EMI on a 3kW solar system?

On ₹87,000 after subsidy, the EMI at 7% is about ₹1,723 a month over 5 years or ₹1,313 over 7 years. Systems up to 3 kW can get collateral-free loans at concessional rates under PM Surya Ghar through public sector banks. Check the current rate with your bank.
